I went down to me local To grab a pint or two
Across the room I spied her With eyes of emerald green
She had a head of shocking red The finest I had seen

I made my way beside her And cracked a witty joke
I asked what are you drinking, she said "mine's a rum and coke"
There was something in her accent and how she held her glass
That got me mind to thinkin' that this was no Irish lass
As we got to talking, the night went rolling by,
Our tongues they never tired til the man was calling time
